Impairment Rating

Impairment Rating 2018-08-08T12:07:30+00:00

Impairment ratings help bring cases to closure by measuring the physical loss or loss of use of a body part related to an injury or illness. Impairment ratings are performed once the patient has reached a steady state or maximum medical improvement.

At times, there is confusion between the terms “impairment rating” and “disability.” An impairment rating is the measurable, physical impact of an injury or illness. Disability is the effect the injury or illness has on the individual’s ability to function both at work and at home and is usually measured by the restrictions given as part of the examination.

Medix impairment ratings are performed in accordance with the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.

Medix Impairment Rating Services Include:

  • File abstraction and review
